Political Instability/Civil Unrest

Demonstrations do occur and are often small and peaceful. Demonstrators commonly protest issues regarding politics and the European Union.

Crime

There is very little violent crime, but pick-pocketing can occur in public areas such as bus, rail, and airport terminals, particularly in Luxembourg City. Maintain good situational awareness and do not leave valuables unattended.

Transportation

Road conditions are generally well-maintained. Traffic congestion, particularly through urban areas, is likely due to increased volumes of traffic which utilize several major highways to transit between Belgium, France, and Germany. There are reportedly government plans to make all public transportation free after March 2020.

Luxembourg: Possibility for air traffic disruption at Luxembourg Airport between 6 June and 7 July

06/06/2019 14:48:01
Alert Categories:
Airline / Airport Information

Passengers flying through Luxembourg Airport may be affected by flight disruptions between 6 June and 7 July due to the installation of new radar equipment in its air tower, which will require a number of tests. The Air Navigation Administration (ANA) announced that it would install new air traffic control radar software between 6 and 7 June. Once installed, the airport will have to conduct tests to ensure the software works successfully. The following transition phase will incur air traffic restrictions, affecting both instrument flight rules and visual flight rules. According to the ANA, the month-long transition period could be adapted provided tests run successfully. Travellers are advised to monitor all flight information if using the airport in the coming weeks. Contact your airline for flight specific details.
